AU Optronics Delivers its First Integrated AC Module into the US Residential Market (2011.07.14)

AU Optronics Corp. ("AUO" or the "Company") (TAIEX: 2409; NYSE: AUO) today announces its partnership with SolarBridge Technologies to deliver AC Unison, a high-efficiency AUO's AC module with an integrated microinverter. AC Unison will be displayed from July 12th to 14th in the exhibition of Intersolar North America 2011, Moscone Center, San Francisco. The initial offering of the product is targeted at the North American residential market and will be sold by AUO's network of distribution partners in Q3, 2011.  L.J. Chen, president of AUO will also give a speech and demonstrate AC Unison at Intersolar North American conference on July, 13th.

“We are very pleased to work with SolarBridge to make AC Unison a simple, flexible, safe and integrated module that provides high energy yields, high efficiency, and the best LCOE (levelized cost of energy) solution on the market.” said L.J. Chen, president of AUO. AC Unison is designed for 25-year reliability and comes with the industry's first integrated AC module warranty from AUO.

AC Unison is a complete pre-assembled PV system, eliminating the cost of inverter installations in the field.  The microinverter is able to harvest the full output from the AUO module by performing panel-level Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT). The result is an increase in energy production up to 25% over traditional string and central inverter based systems. Because of its energy harvest benefits, AC Unison can be installed at many sites that were previously unsuitable for solar due to shading or roof obstructions.

AC Unison has many impressive features for residential customers. This product has an aesthetically pleasing all black appearance, three busbar cell design and the simple ”one click” AC cabling scheme makes for fast and easy installation process. It is also a very safe solution. High voltage (up to 600V) DC strings are eliminated, and the feature to allow first responders to turn off power at the AC module in emergencies, means there is no live wiring from the system. AC Unison is designed and tested to meet UL1741 requirements for AC modules.

AC Unison will be showcased at Intersolar North America in AUO booth (#9910) during the exhibition. President of AUO, L.J. Chen, will deliver a speech and demonstrate the cutting-edge AC Unison at Intersolar North America conference. The session is “Global Markets-Future Market Prospects across Asia.”
